[00:01:16] I'm excited to have you here with us today and let's dive into today's episode of the men made for more podcasts.

[00:01:23]What's up guys, welcome to the show, today we're talking about falling in love with the process. If there's something in your life you want so bad, you just feel stuck or even moving in slow motion. When it comes to actually achieving it. Most guys I work with and talk to you express the same frustrations.

[00:01:41] They have a picture in their head of the life they want to be living, but their daily actions do not support that vision that they have for themselves. At may, from our coaching, we help guys build clarity and intentionality across the areas of life that matter most to improve the life of themselves and those around them.

[00:01:59] One big piece of [00:02:00] that is staying disciplined on the process and not spending too much time getting caught up in the details of the outcome. Listen up to learn why falling in love with the process will lead to the outcome. Taking care of itself. Too many guys are outcome focused. I get it. You want the girl at the house, the great job successful business, the body, the health, the financial freedom, but you haven't consistently put in the work to get that those big outcomes you're chasing.

[00:02:29] Won't come true, simply from wishing wanting or visualizing alone. These things require action. Not just any action though. Deliberate, purposeful and intentional action. Daily for years and years and years in order to keep this kind of consistency, you need a big goal. You need to dream those dreams. You reason on why achieving the goals is so important.

[00:02:54] Do you guys need help with identify in that way? Just go a few episodes back to the episode. Title big goals [00:03:00] require a big way for more than that, help you talk through that whole process. But even with these big dreams, you can't get so caught up in the dream itself, that it gets in the way of the process.

[00:03:10] The dream is exciting. It's invigorating. It sets you on fire. You get goosebumps and you're your heart races. Just thinking about it, the process. On the other hand, it can be boring, repetitive, uneventful, even, but you know what, show me any dream worth achieving and the magic to getting there lies in the boring, the repetitive and the uneventful process repeated daily for years and years.

[00:03:36] If you look at some of the greats across any business or sport, you'll find people falling in love with the process. One of the great set that comes to mind for me is Kobe Bryant. I've heard countless stories about his insane work ethic when no one was watching. He wanted to be the best basketball player of all time.

[00:03:53] But showing up on game day or doing the bare minimum was not the standard he set for himself. There've been reports from [00:04:00] teammates that they would find him practicing. They're even hours, hours before any other teammates were, were required to show up. And at times practicing without even using a ball.

[00:04:10] He'd be cutting, running, acting like he was dribbling, acting like he's shooting all without a ball. And if you guys have seen the movie earbud, but it reminds me of, of that. That's a throwback to the childhood as I was, as I was thinking about this story, but he's doing this all by himself. Colby was, was there.

[00:04:27] I can just picture him running and jumping and taking a shots without even using a ball. Talk about focused on the process. You don't even get to see the ball going into the net. And who knows how long he was doing this at a given time that doesn't sound boring or repetitive. I think the results speak for themselves.

[00:04:46] Go watch Coby's highlights. Look at his stats and his track record. I guarantee you behind all those hours, he shined on game day or hundreds of hours, hundreds, thousands, where he sweat. He struggled. He grinded his way to the [00:05:00] boring details that set him apart, especially when no one was watching. I fall in love with the process is going to be essential to getting you to where you want to go.

[00:05:10] I want to talk about five strategies today. Five things you can be doing to help you fall in love with the process to reach your desired outcome. Because I noticed as an easy, it's easy to get caught stargazing. It's easy to get caught. Looking ahead, looking into the future, looking at our vision and say, man, I can't wait till I get there.

[00:05:26] Once I get there, everything's going to be good. It seems so close yet, so far, but the process is what's going to bridge the gap between that vision. You have that goal. You have to make it a reality. So first strategy you want to talk about reward the input, not the output. What I mean by that? You want to focus on the inputs that move the needle forward, not the outputs, not the results of, of what you're doing.

[00:05:52] Now we can talk about this in terms of say health and fitness, don't worry so much about senior abs or muscles. That would be the output. [00:06:00] Worry about limiting snacking, limiting sugars, and becoming someone who doesn't miss workouts. So those are the inputs you can control that are going to eventually lead to you see in your abs, to you see in your muscles, don't worry so much about hitting a certain sales number at work focused on how many people you're reaching out to in a given week. Don't just wish for a happy and healthy marriage, focused on investing time and energy into doing those little things that will lead to that over time.

[00:06:25] Again, we can't just, we can't just wish for the output to happen and ignore the inputs needed to help us get there. Those things listed. Those are the inputs that eventually lead to the output or the process that eventually leads to the outcome. Focus on those inputs, focused on the process and let the other things take care of themselves.

[00:06:44] Second thing, implement the right habits and don't break the chain. Once you identify what habits and inputs are the most important to help you achieve your desired outcome. The next part is so obvious yet. It's where so many people miss the Mark just don't break the chain or in other words, just [00:07:00] don't miss.

[00:07:01] Many people do well with having a physical way of doing this such as you can cross off dates in a calendar, put an x as you accomplish your habit as you accomplish your routineand that can be a great reinforcement to stick with it. No matter what this advice, uh, not breaking the chain was made famous.

[00:07:18] I read about this from, from Jerry Seinfeld and asked for advice for upcoming comedians. Jerry was known to write jokes every single day without fail, no matter what. In other words, he never let the chain be broken. If I know what that means to you and stay consistent with it. Third thing, identify your no-fail item and stick with it.

[00:07:38] No matter what it takes now, no fail item. This is something you can set at the beginning of the day. You're going to create a no-fail item that you'll stick with no matter what it should be. Something done every single day, something that you commit to doing that you follow through on no matter what the day throws at you.

[00:07:54] If it isn't going as planned and you have to stay up super late, getting this thing done, this is something that you're going to accomplish for [00:08:00] that day. It could be something big, like running 10 miles. It could be something small, like reading for 10 minutes in the morning. The key is to identify this at the start of the day and get in the habit of following through.

[00:08:12] You'll see the fruits of your labor in due time. If you stick with it, we're just trying to build habits, your habits of taking action habits of focusing on the process. Next thing, guys, four thing prepare for battle and don't get rattled. What do I mean by that? As guys we'd like to picture a crazy battle going on or a fight that we're going to be involved in.

[00:08:32] And obviously one where we end up as the hero, but the battle I'm talking about, this is a subtle battle. You're going to face every single day when it comes to sticking to the process. When it comes to falling in love with the process. You're going to find subtle resistance, distractions, and temptations to stray from the process.

[00:08:51] You're going to get shiny object syndrome and take your eyes off. What's most important. What matters the most for something that guarantees you to [00:09:00] get you to your destination faster promises those abs in 90 days, you're going to experience setbacks along the way. You're gonna experience failures along the way.

[00:09:09] And even the illusion at times that you're making zero progress at all, or even moving backwards. Guys, this is all normal, totally normal. As you adapt an action mindset and become a man that's in love with the process, but it's important to prepare yourself ahead of time, know that these battles are coming so that you don't give in no matter how tempting it is.

[00:09:28] Last thing, last strategy here, learning to play for an audience of one is going to mean different things to different people, but show up every single day for someone to keep you going. When the time gets tough. When those temptations come in. You want to find someone that you can work for, that you can stick to your process with.

[00:09:47] If you're a man of faith show up for God, if you're a family man, show up for your spouse or your kids, if you're a man of self-respect to show up for yourself, you owe it to those in your life that are relying on you to live every single day as the [00:10:00] man you were made to be guys, those are the five strategies I got for you guys, but I hope you can see the importance of falling in love with the process and what that's going to do.

[00:10:08] Let the outcomes take care of itself. Now, like we've been doing at the end of all these solo episodes. Want to leave you guys with a take action, take away something that you can take in Southern that you can apply a challenge. If you will, to take action on it too often, we listen to podcasts. We read books, we do these things we consume, but we don't take the next step.

[00:10:29] We don't even take the first step, no matter how small. That small step that's usually the most important. So guys, these don't have to be huge takeaways. You don't have to be huge action steps, especially when we talk things to the process, processes, little steps taken day after day, that lead to huge progress over time.

[00:10:48] So today's take action takeaway. I'm gonna challenge you guys with ask yourself, where do you find yourself fixating on the outcome and neglecting the process? Do some reflection on that find where you keep worrying about the outcome. And [00:11:00] maybe you're slipping a little bit on the process, the discipline around that.

[00:11:03] Once you've identified that challenge yourself starting today right now, to identify the process needed to reach your desired outcome, then raise your standard and commit to sticking with it. No matter how long it takes, if the outcomes that important guys you'll find a way to fall in love the process, you'll find a way to stay consistent with it.

[00:11:23] Just imagine moving from being a man of worrying about the future and moving into being a man, totally immersed in getting the most important things done yeah. In the present. And when you, when you can adapt that mindset, that present focused mindset, that process mindset, the results are going to take care of themselves.

[00:11:39] You just control what you can control today and rinse and repeat coming tomorrow. Same things coming at you tomorrow. Guys, it's going to be boring, but it's going to be worth it. Guys. I appreciate all you guys listening. I appreciate you guys invest in yourselves. Just taking the time to absorb this, to learn it, to apply it.
