[00:00:48] What's up champions. Hope everyone's having an amazing week. Uh, we're back with another episode here of the men made from our podcast. And, uh, just want to let you guys know upfront to, uh, that while [00:01:00] we've had a lot of great guests interviews in the past, uh, for this new season, as we adjust to a new parent life, as we adjust to figuring out a new rhythms, if you can call it that with, uh, with work and family balance and all that, um, most of the episodes for the time being are likely going to be.
[00:01:17] Solo episodes, just teaching on a quick topic, keeping them, uh, just short, concise to the point, a lot of actionable items for you guys. I just see that you guys know, uh, leading, leading up to it that if there's a guest episode in there, it's a, it's a bonus episode, but uh, most of them are going to be a just solo episodes.
[00:01:33] So for any of you that love exclusively the guest episodes, I apologize. We will be. Back to those in time for those that are just looking for quick digestible, uh, action items. Uh, these, you know, this season is going to be a great season of podcasts for you guys in terms of, of getting to the point and that, uh, that, that transitions in really nicely to, I would want to talk about today.
[00:01:55] And that's a common principle of, of the 80 20 principle [00:02:00] and really what this means for those that aren't familiar is that. 80% of our results come from 20% of our output. Uh, 20% of our action. It leads to 80% of results or finances or what, you know, whatever area of life where we're looking at, but this really just comes down to priorities of knowing what are the things that I have to say no to.
[00:02:20] And what are those, those limited things I have to say yes to that are going to carry the most weight are going to carry the most results. And like I talked about on last week's podcast, you can, you can bring this to any area of your life. You can think about this in terms of, in terms of your marriage, what, uh, you know, what are those action items, those things of those, uh, uh, those things that you guys do together that are going to bring 80% of the fulfillment and the happiness in your marriage.
[00:02:46] This can be in your spiritual life, or what are the, what are those key things that you can be doing to. Strengthen your relationship with God the most, what are the things in your business? Those few things you can be doing that are going to lead [00:03:00] to the most, the most revenue, the most profits, the most, uh, the fastest results in your health.
[00:03:05] What are the, what are those few things? Those Keystone habits that will lead to 80% of the results you're getting to. And, uh, for those that are new to this principle, don't get too hung up in 80 20. Uh, cause sometimes it could be 70 30, it could be 90 10. Uh, but that's, uh, this, this is something that. We need to step back and reevaluate it at several, several different times where lives, especially, you know, on an ongoing basis, but especially in, in new transitions, like, like we're in right now with, uh, with, uh, a newborn and a new new family rhythms and routines, and, uh, trying to figure out what that, what getting back into work and what to focus on from a, from a business standpoint, from producing content standpoint.
[00:03:45] All these areas that we look at and we reevaluate and what that really leads to is having to cut a lot of things out because when you do an assessment like this, when you look at okay, what really are those few things that are giving me the most results? We find is that where we're [00:04:00] spending our time at, we're probably, there's a lot of fluff in there and that's what that, that other, all the rest of that 80% is there's there can be a lot of fluff in there of, okay.
[00:04:08] I know these things bring the highest return yet. I also find myself doing X, Y, and Z checking my email every 20 minutes going on social media, maybe throwing a post up here and there, uh, you know, doing these other marketing strategies. Where are we really spending our time? And that's where, when you look at it and you identify what those, those key things are, that that 20% or less that's leading to the most results.
[00:04:32] Now you should have this clear plan of, Hey, these are the things I need to focus on, and this is going to be a season or period, whether that's a day, a week, a month, a year, I'm not going to, I'm not going to focus on these other things. I'm going to either delegate them. I might have to just remove them completely, but I'm going to focus on these key things that are going to lead to the most results, because that's really what we're all after.
[00:04:52] I'm guessing. If you're listening to this podcast, you are after results in some area of your life. There's, there's some area where [00:05:00] you aren't seeing the results you want to, or you aren't seeing them fast enough. And this is going to be one of the things that's going to help you get there. Knowing what you need to say no to, and focusing on those, those few things that are going to lead to the highest return.
[00:05:13] So in terms of how to go about doing this from the actionable side of things, just sit down, I would, I would block different areas of your life. So don't try and I wouldn't try and do this in terms of looking at everything at once. I would break down those different category. That we would talk about. So look at, look at all those areas, your life that are important for spiritually and your faith, make a column for that for your health and your fitness, for your relationships, for your marriage, for your business, for your finances, all these different areas.
[00:05:39] Start to see what are those things that are. Bringing the most results. So just do a brainstorm, like brainstorm everything that you're taking action on. And then if you list 10 things, circle one or two, say what are those two things that if I, if I could only do one thing in this list, if I make this list, so under your fitness, you list 20 things you're [00:06:00] doing to try and be healthier.
[00:06:01] If you can only do one or two of those things, circle those things. What would those two things be that would still get you the majority of the results without having to spend time doing every single one of those things? And this doesn't even mean that you have to cut all those things that aren't circled, but when you go through and do this and each list, then you need to step back and look at your schedule because in different seasons of life, when you have more time available, when you don't have a newborn, when you aren't juggling new work roles and those things too, maybe you can focus on a few more things and you can take on more on your plate to try and get even more results, but there's going to be times and there's going to be.
[00:06:34] Uh, times of life, where you have to focus more on a certain area, maybe you're in a position where your finances are struggling a little more and you have to step more into focusing on financial and business and maybe your health. What you're super passionate about needs to take a, not a backseat, but it doesn't need to be, can't be spending as much time on, or you can flip those scenarios around and you guys can see how this can apply to different seasons of life when you're busier or less busy and also different areas of your life that, you know, you need to be.
[00:06:59] Focusing [00:07:00] on. So that's a, that's a quick way to do an assessment and to identify those things. And then once you identify those things, it's actually finding, so looking at your schedule, doing a time audit, if you need to, which we've talked about in the past of looking at all the things you're doing in a given day, write those things out, eliminate all those time-wasters those things that aren't the 20%.
[00:07:18] And then find out where you can fill in more, uh, uninterrupted blocks of working on those 20% things. Maybe, maybe for you it's it's writing content or producing content, or maybe it's, you know, sales, sales and your, your business or your job, know what those things are. And then find more time to, uh, implement those into this.
[00:07:37] And that's, uh, you'll be surprised though, at, uh, I know as if you're an entrepreneur listening or if you're someone who's just a go getter. If you're anything like me, you'd like to just take on more. You think more is better. You're like, oh, I heard this new strategy. I'm going to implement that in my business.
[00:07:50] I'm going to, I'm going to do all these things that I've done in the past when that can actually water down your results and can actually slow your results down when you find yourself trying to focus on too much. So we really need a narrow [00:08:00] focus. We need to prioritize, and we need to focus on, get laser focused on those things that are going.
[00:08:04] The most results. Cause that's really what we're after. It's not about wearing a badge of honor of saying, well, this is how much work I got done today. It's like, what kind of results am I getting? How much time am I able to spend with my family? How much time I able to spend networking? How much, how much time can I spend just enjoying, enjoying life while still getting the results that that I'm after.
[00:08:22] And for those people that wear a badge of honor, about how much they work in a given day, uh, there might be some, some lack of prioritization. Um, and getting more focused on that can get better results and give you a better work-life balance. So why don't you guys to focus on that, that the homework would be to list all those columns out list, all the different areas of your life that are the most important for you, and then list out what, uh, what things you're doing, everything you're doing.
[00:08:45] Circle, the ones that are, that you believe to be are giving you the most results. And then try to just get laser focused on those. I set a timeframe on it could be the next week. It can be the next six weeks, uh, whatever timeframe you put on it. Uh, just start getting laser focused on that. And if you [00:09:00] guys need another reference, uh, in terms of if you're having trouble getting rid of things, if you're having trouble saying no, the book necessary endings is an amazing resource.
[00:09:09] One that, uh, I read multiple times the first time I got it because it, uh, it spoke to me in a lot of ways of, of knowing when we have. Uh, separate from things that maybe we've done in the past that we're still holding on to for whatever reason, but they aren't still bearing fruit. They're still getting those results.
[00:09:24] If you guys need a little more reading on, I highly recommend that book. It's a great resource. Great read. If you guys are struggling with feeling like, oh, I don't, I don't know where I can cut or I don't know how to possibly cut down, but we have to be able to trim things from our life in order to let the things that matter most.
[00:09:38] So guys go focus on that, uh, make your list. Whether I, I love writing it down, you can do it in your head, but when you get a chance, stop, get out of the pen and paper, actually write those things out.
